Hey All,
I want to wish all of you a Happy Memorial Day , a day we remember many people . Family , Nation , Military, anyone who has gone on before, to protect our way of life and the many Freedom's so many take for granted. It is also a time to remember all those who are carrying the torch at the present time , they truly have their work ahead of them, and hopefully they will get what they have been promised . I am so PROUD of this group , getting the word out , not just for ourselves but those who follow also , trying to make their return better. Again I say a Heartfelt " BRAVO" to all . I hope everyone has a Great weekend . God richly Bless each and everyone , and all whom we remember. As always , my Prayer's are with each of you , and with those defending our Right's & Freedoms .

A Thankful prayer for all who have gone before, are here now and for those in the future that will keep our Nation safe from harm.

I listen/watch the Terry Kelly video periodically and did it today. I know it's a different date for Canada but it still gets to me. My eyes got watery and my stomach began to shake as I remembered friends I have lost "over there" and since then on this board. I went out to do some shopping today and I noticed how many stores, companies etc had their flags flying full. I always wear my "Reflections" T-shirt only on Memorial day, 4th of July, etc, and my cap everyday and as I passed these places it really began to get me P*SS*D. I started to drive around and go in to those that were open and identify myself and politely point out that today is Memorial day and the Flag should be at half staff. I was aghast to go to the Slinger Police station and see that they were one of the guilty ones, don't you know I let them have it.....I'll probably be "targeted" for tickets now. I am tempted to go around later this evening and see if any one cared to take the time to lower it after I pointed it out to them.

Frank, either is correct, half staff or half mast.

Most half staff days the flag is half staff from sunrise intil sunset on the days of the order.

Memorial Day is an exception where the flag is at half staff from sunrise until noon.


I lower my flag for the entire day, sometimes the entire weekend, that is my tribute to my heroes!!!

Frank, Memorial day was called Decoration Day. Proclaimed on 5 May 1868- observed on 30 May 1868. In 1971 it was changed to coincide with three day weekens.

The flag observance is under executive order 10834 of the Flag code.( not sure why 12 noon)

Q: Why is the Flag raised to full staff at noon on Memorial Day? This is the only
occasion that the Flag is not flown at half staff all day. What is the authority for this?
A: On Memorial Day, the last Monday in May, the Flag is displayed at half-staff
from sunrise until noon and at full staff from noon until sunset; for the Nation lives and
the Flag is the symbol of the living Nation. The authority is derived from The Flag Code,
Title 36, U.S.C., Chapter 10, As amended by P.L. 344, 94th Congress, Approved July 7,
1976; § 175. Position and manner of display, Section (m).
