Chief Wilma Mankiller, first woman Tribal Leader of the Cherokee Indians and well recognized and decorated by the US Government, has passed away on Tuesday. She was very active in employment, education and restructuring of the Tribe. My condolences go out to Dave and members of his Tribe.
(Obviously she was not a member of the BWNVV but I feel family members and important figures in the lives of our members should also be remembered here as their passing can deeply affect the members involved. Frank)

Thanks Frank,
She was a great lady and did much for the Cherokee Nation. She waded through the "Politics" and got things done in spite of the usual bickering and back biting that goes on in Tribal government. She was very humble and didn't let the title of Chief go to her head.

A sad lose.
Many condolences.
Yours in Faith,
"We are now about to take our leave and kind farewell to our native land, the country the Great Spirit gave our Fathers, we are on the eve of leaving that country that gave us birth...it is with sorrow we are forced by the white man to quit the scenes of our childhood...we bid farewell to it and all we hold dear."
Charles Hicks, Tsalagi (Cherokee) Vice Chief of the Trail of Tears,
